Originally named Xero before going on to Hybrid Theory, Liknin Park has quickly made themselves one of the top reigning rock groups of the day, churning out album after album, reminiscent of the days of The Beatles. Formed in 1996 (as Xero) in Southern California, the teenagers began their career more of a heavy metal outfit, but by the time vocalist, Bennington joined the group, they moved toward the genre Linkin Park is more known for these days.
A regular at the famous Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles, The Park received a good number of offers from record labels, turning them down until the offer from Warner Brothers came around, offering them more artistic control over their projects.
The debut release, borrowing from their earlier days, Hybrid Theory was released to rave reviews by Fall of 2000. And with the instant smash single, "One Step Closer", the band was moved to headlining performers within their first year. Their trek across the nation on the Family Values tour sprang up more fans and gave the band their first taste of potential superstardom.
The big kick came in early 2002 when the band received three Grammys ® for their debut release, including "Best Rock Album" and the ever popular "Best New Artist" awards. The single, "Crawling" would land "Best Hard Rock Performance.
Quickly, without much further ado, the band slipped into the studio to quietly release the Summer 2002 release, Reanimation. Received well with critics and hitting the top ten upon it's release, Linkin Park look like they are on their way to remaining the instant superstars they original set out for.
